How to Sell Worn Gym Clothes and Sportswear
Gym kit is one of the easiest things to start selling if you already train. Here’s what sells, how to list it and how to price your workouts.
If you already go to the gym, run or play sport, you’re producing something buyers actively look for. Worn gym clothes and sportswear are among the most popular items on worn clothing marketplaces, and they’re an easy, natural place to start because they fit around what you already do.
Here’s how to turn your training into sales.
What sells
Almost anything you train in can find a buyer. Popular items include:
- Gym shorts, leggings and joggers.
- Sports bras, vests and t-shirts.
- Socks worn for a run or a workout (see our guide to selling worn socks).
- Underwear worn while training, such as jockstraps, briefs and boxers.
- Trainers and running shoes, especially well-used pairs.
- Kit from specific sports: football, rugby, boxing, cycling or martial arts.
Well-known sportswear brands often sell well, but don’t worry if your kit is unbranded. Buyers care more about how it’s been worn than the logo.
Write a listing that sells
The more specific you are, the easier it is for the right buyer to find you and say yes. Include:
- What the item is, plus the brand, size, colour and fabric.
- How it was worn: the type of session, how long and how intense.
- Your sport or routine, for example leg day, a 10k run or a long shift on your feet.
- How you’ll package and post it, and roughly when it will arrive.
Keep it honest. If you describe a heavy workout, make sure that’s what the buyer gets. Your reviews depend on it.
Pricing gym kit
Look at similar listings and start somewhere sensible, then adjust as you learn what’s popular. Things that add value:
- Longer or tougher sessions.
- Extra days of wear.
- Multiple sessions in the same item.
- Photos of the item being worn, within the site’s rules.
- Bundles, like matching shorts and socks from the same workout.
Don’t forget to cover packaging and postage. Our guide to pricing worn underwear and clothing has more detail.
Offer custom gym sessions
Custom orders are where gym sellers often do best. A buyer might ask for a specific item worn for a particular workout, a set number of sessions, or a run of a certain distance. Add these options to your price menu so buyers can choose exactly what they want. Our guide to custom orders explains how menus and extras work.
Only offer what fits your routine. If you only train three times a week, don’t promise five sessions.
Photos: keep them safe and simple
Good, clear photos help a lot, but protect your privacy. Avoid anything in the background that shows your gym’s name, your location or your face if you’d rather stay anonymous. On Scent From Me only you can appear in your photos, nothing explicit is allowed, and every photo is checked before it goes live.
Packaging and posting
Seal each item in a zip-lock or vacuum bag as soon as you take it off, so it stays exactly as the buyer expects. Then post it in plain, discreet packaging with no hint of what’s inside. Our guide to packaging and posting worn items discreetly walks you through it.
